Downtown Austin Texas

Downtown is, of course, the center of Austin Texas.

Downtown Austin is how we compare all other Austin neighborhoods. By walking the streets of downtown, you’ll see how unique and vibrant the Austin culture is.

Many of the buildings in Downtown Austin are low rises and the streets are filled with shops and restaurants with outdoor patios. Since Austin only experiences a few cold months, it’s impossible to find the streets empty and all the patios have heaters so you can enjoy the outdoors while staying warm all year round.

Most of the high rises you will see along the streets are condos. Due to the prime location, these condos are the most expensive in Austin. You will, of course, also find apartments and homes for rent or sale here to fulfill your UT residency requirements!

Attractions In Downtown Austin

Lady Bird Lake separates downtown from South Austin. From the lake, you’ll get panoramic views of the city skyline from paddleboards, kayaks, or along the lakefront trail. Congress Avenue splits the city into east and west. You’ll find the Paramount Theatre on Congress Avenue, a historic theater still hosting performances. At the end of Congress, you’ll get an unbelievable view of the Texas State Capital; the only capital building taller than the White House.

In the 2ND street district, you’ll find a range of shopping options from local boutiques to high-fashion brands, and as you might expect Downtown Austin is home to some of the best restaurants and bars in the city. This neighborhood is also the host of the South by Southwest conference, happening annually in the city of Austin.
